About

Starthist Jacobs is a small flock of registered Jacob sheep with about 20 ewes. Breeding program decisions are made with the idea of improving fleece quality and maintaining genetic diversity. The flock name came from the grazing area of the sheep, an area that my older son and I named Starthistle Flat. Fortunately, most of the starthistle is now gone. The flock is my project but my husband and sons help out when more muscle or an extra hand are needed. Breeding stock is available for sale

The flock was certified by the USDA Scrapie Eradication program, was tested for the G444R genetic mutation (Tay-Sachs), and was free of carriers while testing was available.
